Like most people nowadays, my fiancé and I had a gender reveal party when I was pregnant with my son.

It was such a neat way to find out the sex of our baby and to celebrate our pregnancy with all of our loved ones!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with this new trend, allow me to share a few details.

Around my 16 week check up we had my ultrasound technician snap a few pictures, write down whether we were having a boy or a girl and seal it in an envelope for us.

During the check up my fiancé and I just looked away. But we were still able to hear our sweet one’s heartbeat so don’t worry about missing the ultrasound!

We then were able to give this envelope to the person responsible for putting the big reveal together. In our case it was my fiancé‘s father.

We had our big party with all of our friends and family when I was about 20 weeks, which gave a four week notice for the big event. We had a great turn out!

Since we did throw a party, we sent invitations and had lots of food and decor. Once everyone showed up and had plenty of time to mingle and grab a bite to eat, we revealed our baby’s gender! Keep reading and I’ll tell you how!

As most of you know, I’m a very young mama. 20 to be exact. I was 18 when I found out I was pregnant and my fiancé and I were still living with his parents. They were so supportive of our pregnancy and hosted our gender reveal in their home! They also cooked most of the food and helped decorate! We are so grateful for them!

These were a few of the decorations we put together and you can use them as inspiration for your gender reveal party!

Decor Inspo:

“A little peanut is on the way, pink or blue what do you say?”

This is such a cute little poem that you could write out somewhere and if you have an artistic hand, you can add the drawings of the Peanuts gang! This was done by my father in law. Thanks Mike!

“Ten little fingers, ten little toes, two little eyes, one little nose. Boy or girl? Nobody Knows”

This is another adorable poem that we used that my father in law wrote on these boards, that he also painted. There wouldn’t have been a party without him!

Simple but cute, we got these two balloons on amazon.

This decoration was so easy to make and cost almost nothing! And it draped perfectly over the mantle. All you need is paper bags, tissue paper, printer paper, crayons, string and tape. Cut and color the letters B, A, B, Y, glue them to the paper bags, fill the bags with tissue paper and then tape the bags to the string.

For a yummy dessert I had my mother in law make a dirt cake with blue and pink layers. It was delish and the “Oh Baby” topper was also purchased from amazon. Thank you Susan!

Of course dirt cake wasn’t enough for my pregnant butt, I also made sure we had cupcakes! We ordered 120 from Sam’s Club and had half iced pink and half iced blue. I then bought onesie toppers with question marks, aren’t they adorable?!

My sweet mama and aunt spent so much time on this fruit tray and it turned out beautiful! Thank you mama and Bethany!

This table had blue and pink candies, an ultrasound picture, hershey bars with “he” colored blue and “she” colored pink (I hate I don’t have a picture!) and a place for everyone to write their name around a big ultrasound picture, either in blue if they thought I was having a boy or in pink if they thought I was having a girl. I currently have this picture framed and hung on my dining room wall! I love having such a sweet keepsake from our special day!

A huge thanks to my family and friends who helped make this day possible!

Now on to how we revealed our baby’s gender and ways you could surprise your guests with your reveal!

Gender Reveal Ideas:

Egg Roulette: This is what we did! And it was so much fun! I will always remember the anticipation I felt while playing this game!

During egg roulette mom and dad (to be) take turns cracking blue and pink eggs on each other’s heads. If the egg is hard boiled, that is not the gender of your baby. Whoever has the raw egg has the correct gender! That person ends with a face full of egg!

I was sure I was having a girl and when my fiancé and I were down to the last two eggs I yelled at him to not smash the pink egg on my head because I didn’t want raw egg in my hair. Then the blue egg cracked all over his face and all down his shirt! It was so funny and I was shocked! All of our family and friends caught it all on video and were cheering loudly for the reveal! It was so exciting!

Confetti Cannons: One of my really good friends used confetti cannons for her gender reveal and it was such a beautiful way to reveal her baby’s gender.

Her sister in law bought a few cannons filled with blue confetti and all at once, her family popped them up in the air.

My friend also thought she was having a girl so she was really surprised when the sky filled with blue confetti!

Balloons In A Box: Another pretty gender reveal is to have pink or blue balloons sealed in a box and open it in front of all your family and friends! You can have someone make the box from home or get it made from Party City.

Cake Cutting: If you’re feeling a more relaxed gender reveal or are having a small celebration, you can bring that sealed envelope we talked about to your favorite bakery and have them bake a blue or pink cake and ice it with both colors or a neutral color. Then when it’s time to reveal your baby’s gender you just have to cut the cake!

Exploding Golf Ball: If you or someone in the family golfs, this reveal might be fun for you! You can order a golf ball with pink or blue powder in it that explodes when the golfer hits the ball!

Tannerite: If you want to blow your guests away with your gender reveal, this is the reveal for you! With kits bought from a reliable source, follow the directions on how to mix the pink or blue chalk with the tannerite. After placing the box about 100 yards away, you shoot the box and pink or blue powder explodes everywhere!

As always, thank you for taking time to support me by reading and sharing my posts!

I hope your gender reveal party is amazing!
