A few common symptoms of teething are drooling, irritability, biting, cheek rubbing and ear pulling. My son drooled and bit a lot. And for a breastfeeding mama, it was really tough.

With my daughter, she had the same symptoms but unfortunately her gums also bled a little when she was teething. Which made biting a whole lot worse than it was with my son. She had two teeth pop through almost simultaneously when she was five months old. Then between six and seven months she had two more teeth cut through at the same time. Then two more almost immediately after. So it was no shock to me that her gums were bleeding.

But as I mentioned, her biting was unbearable. She wanted to nurse for comfort, which I’m all here for, but she also wanted to use my boob as a teether and that was just not an option.

Needless to say our house is stocked with several different teething toys and I thought I could share them with you and explain just why we love them!

14 Teething Toys

Even though these are pacifiers and not teethers, these have been my daughters favorite teething toys. (Thanks Nanny!) She has never liked pacifiers for soothing. For example, if she’s tired and fussy. She’s always preferred to nurse. But because these are 100% food grade silicone, they’re easy for her to grab, fun to chew on and they’re just the right size for her tiny mouth. When she’s teething she will always chew on one of these for comfort.

The RaZberry teether is also 100% food grade silicone so we love it for the same reasons, however it has what the brand calls “berrybumps”. Which are perfect for getting teeth to actually cut through the gum.

Itzy Ritzy also has these adorable little teething mittens for baby’s hand. We love Itzy Ritzy over here if you can’t tell already. We have their diaper bag backpack and if you’re interested, I highly recommend it. You can find out why on my post Everything You Need To Know About The Vanilla Latte Boss Backpack. But anyways! These mittens have textured silicone and a crinkle sound which my daughter is obsessed with. Her favorite thing to play with is a baby wipes case so she really enjoys these crinkles haha. The mitten was great to have when she didn’t quite have control of her hands and fingers yet.

Next up is this little mermaid toy. While this actually happens to be a soft fabric book, it also has lots of crinkle sounds and two textured teething rings. I personally think this toy is the most interactive and entertaining teether that she has.

If your baby likes security blankets, this munch it teething blankey is the perfect soother and comfort item for baby. My daughter has one slightly different than this one but this one serves the same purpose and it does come in a variety of styles!

I tried to warn y’all about my love for Itzy Ritzy! This teething ring is one of my favorites and we may or may not have two of them…and my daughter is playing with one as we speak haha.

This also comes in different styles including a neutral rainbow, cactus, fox, dinosaur and sloth. But I love it because it has textured silicone, a rattle and extra rings for baby on the side.

This Infantino teething toy is about the same size as the rainbow. It also has textured silicone and a rattle but the ears crinkle as well! This was one of my daughters stocking stuffers this past Christmas and it was a hit!

The fridababy teether is so awesome! It has two double sided gel inserts with four different textures. You take the inserts and place them in the refrigerator to chill and then put them in the silicone handle so baby’s hand won’t be cold. The inserts are also shaped in four ways to reach every tooth in your babies mouth. So this teether is probably the only one that would be beneficial when molars are cutting through. This teether was also the best to have when my daughters gums were bleeding.

Although these aren’t technically teethers, my son has a few of them and my daughter has found a liking to them. While these are still made out of food grade silicone, they’re much easier to bend and fold than any of the other silicone teething toys. That’s probably why my daughter loves them so much. You can also buy fidgets in large packs unlike the other teethers. So if you have multiple teething kiddos (bless you!) or just want back ups, these are really great alternatives.

Also not a teether but works just as well as one, is this STEM learning toy. The Sassy Stacks toy is made of plastic but it’s BPA free. Each circle has a different texture which is why I love offering them as teethers. As your baby gets older, the stacking ring is a wonderful developmental toy. It strengthens hand-eye coordination. This was a gift from Sue Sue and we love it!

And last but not least, another gift from Sue Sue, is this teether and rattle set. There’s eleven toys in this set eight of which are animal links , so I only counted this set as four teethers. Along with the links you get a textured silicone feather, spinning teether rattle and a beaded teether ring. These are wonderful for travel because you can attach them to the car seat and stroller. At home we also attach them to my daughter’s door jumper. She doesn’t care to chew on the animal links as much as the feather but she loves playing with all of them.

Conclusion

After writing this post I think I confidently say that my daughter has more than enough teething toys haha! Overall her favorite seem to be silicone. I hope this post gave you some insight about these rather popular teething toys so you don’t have to buy every single one to test out with your baby. These teethers have been extremely helpful the last couple of months and I hope they’re able to soothe your baby as well!
